Podcast
Learning and working in a digital work has become a primary focus for me. As a facilitator, digital technology became a prime focus for me a few years ago when I realized that PowerPoint presentations were just not cutting it in the learning environment. I have a very short attention span and I could not expect my students to sit through boring theory classes passively listening to information. I decided to sign up for professional development session where I wold learn about integrating on-line components and tools into my courses. I began transforming the way I disseminate information.
Working in a digital world means we are responsible for constant change and upgrades to keep up with current trends. As educators this not only makes us accountable and responsible for ensuring our content is fresh and up to date, it allows us to reach learners with various learning styles. Active participation requires the learner to do more work; however, it promotes self directed learning and enables the learner to make sense of what they are learning as they work through learning activities.
I have not used a voice recording tool prior to this session. I will try to use it again in the future. It is an easy way to explain quick concepts to learners. A Podcast contribute to digital literacy because it is another tool available that is easy to use and allows for communication between learners or between the facilitator and the learners. I think it would be a great way to provide feedback for students.
